Hyeonggeun Ji receives the Best Poster Award at the SENSE Symposium
Hyeonggeun Ji received the Best Poster Award at the SENSE Symposium in Amsterdam for the Humanitarian Governance Project . With displaced communities from riparian and coastal regions, Rawnak Jahan Khan Ranon (ICCCAD) and Hyeonggeun Ji (ISS) conducted fieldwork to understand the realities of humanitarian accountability for climate-related displacement.
The poster, titled ‘Climate-related Displacement in Bangladesh: Re-envisioning Accountability for Humanitarian Governance’, highlighted that local power dynamics are often neglected in accountability practices, thereby perpetuating inequality rather than addressing it. Through this study, they also learned the agency of displaced people and local humanitarians, who actively seek alternative modes of accountability through reconfiguring their social networks.
The symposium featured engaging discussions following Prof. Ian Scoones‘ insightful presentation on his new book ‘Navigating Uncertainty’. Participants, including fellow PhD candidates, contributed to multidisciplinary debates on sustainability.
